Gordon R. Viers, 69, of the 400 block of Redbrick Drive, went to be with his Lord July 13, 1994.
Mr. Viers was born in Kankakee, Ill., and was retired as a building inspector in Baton Rouge, La. He also retired from Greenbrier Christian Academy as a construction supervisor. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, and was co-chaplain for Prison Ministry in Gates County, N.C. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn B. Viers; a daughter, Carol L. White and her husband, Ron, of Chesapeake; a son, Gordon Scott Viers of Edna, Texas; two stepsons, Fleetwood Bagley of Virginia Beach and Craig N. Bagley of Bowie, Md.; a sister, Pearl Mogensen of Louisville, Ky.; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11a.m. Saturday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Daniel K. Davey and the Rev. H. Ron White. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Greenbrier Christian Academy, P.O. Box 1775, Chesapeake, Va. 23320 or to Colonial Baptist Church, Virginia Beach.
