MADELINE H. JOHNSON

Madeline Harris Johnson, 71, of the 2500 block of Druid Circle died July 14, 1994, in Lake Taylor Hospital.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Gates County, N.C., and was a presser for Peoples Cleaners for 20 years. She was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church, served on Usher Board (NU)1, was president of the Willing Workers Club and served on the Missionary Circle, Sarah Reynolds. She served on the Christian Education Committee and the Roxanne Spady Sunday School. She was the widow of Charlie Johnson.

Survivors include a son, Lawrence L. Johnson of Tumwater, Wash.; her longtime companion, Lonnie McClain; her daughter-in-law, Reba G. Johnson; several nieces and nephews in North Carolina; and other relatives throughout the country.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Queen Street Baptist Church, 413 E. Brambleton Ave., by the Rev. Howard Purvis. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. Monday. Family and friends will assemble at the church at 10:45 a.m. for services. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
