Alternate water sources for northeastern North Carolina and southeastern Virginia will be discussed at a meeting of the Albemarle Water Resources Task Force on Tuesday, July 26, at 10 a.m. in the Albemarle Commission building at Hertford.
Reports and proposals for alternate water sources ``in light of recent developments regarding the Lake Gaston issue'' will be heard, said Hal Walker Jr., executive director of the Albemarle Commission.
One possible source is the daily discharge of millions of gallons of waste water at the Texas-Gulf phosphate mining operation at Aurora on the Pamlico River in Beaufort County, Walker said. A discussion will be led by William C. ``Bill'' Owens Jr., a Pasquotank County commissioner who is chairman of the Water Resources task force.
