SUFFOLK'S PERSONNEL DIRECTOR RESIGNS

LaDonna J. Wade, Suffolk's personnel director for the past eight months, has resigned to take a job in the private sector.

Wade, 40, who left the city on Friday, has been hired as the new personnel director for The Tribune Company in Newport News, the parent company of The Daily Press. She will oversee the personnel department for the entire newspaper.

``It's a professional move,'' she said. Wade brought few changes in Suffolk. She helped increase the regular work week from 37 1/2 to 40 hours for about 245 city employees.

Wade's departure leaves the Suffolk personnel post unfilled for the second time in a year. by CNB
