A 32-year-old man died late Friday after being struck by a car while riding a bike. A 16-year-old faces charges as a result of the accident.
Police said Brian E. Drake of the 6300 block of Sangamon Ave. was biking near the intersection of Partridge and Widgeon roads when he was struck about 6:30 p.m.
Police said the driver lost control of the car when he struck a curb. The car then hit the bike, veered off the street and hit a house.
The driver, whose name was not released because of his age, was not seriously hurt. He lives in the 1400 block of Melon St. Drake died at Sentara Norfolk General at 10 p.m.
