Thomas L. Thorne of the 1200 block of Barbour Drive, a retired pipe layer, died July 13, 1994, in Brent-Lox Hall Nursing Center, Chesapeake.
Mr. Thorne was born in Isle of Wight County, Va. He retired from VICO Construction Co. after 25 years, was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and the widower of Rosa Lee Thorne.
Survivors include four daughters, Faye McMillan, Stacy Madison, Monica Madison and Cassandra Thorne; and five sons, Thomas Madison, Shea Madison, Thomas Lee Alston, Maurice Thorne and Timothy Thorne, all of Portsmouth; six sisters, Mary Wilson of Suffolk, Va., Velma Bonney, Shirley Bunch and Phyllis Thomas, all of Chesapeake, Francis Deloatch of Portsmouth and Katherine Thorne of Smithfield, Va.; five brothers, Otis Batten of Smithfield, Va., Vernon Thorne and Clifton Thorne, both of Portsmouth, and John Thorne and James Thorne, both of Chesapeake; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a close friend, Frances Alston.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church by the Rev. E.T. Knight. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. Monday. The family will be at 336 Hatton St., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
