President Clinton feels maligned by what he calls false charges by Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and others of the so-called religious right. He complains bitterly that the public lacks the protection of a ``truth detector.'' The president conveniently forgets that had such a device been used during his 1992 campaign, it is unlikely that he would have received even the pathetic 43 percent of the vote which allowed him to slip into office!
