EDMUND S. BOICE JR.

Edmund Simpson ``Ed'' Boice Jr., 72, of 220 55th St., died July 17, 1994, in Virginia Beach. He was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Edmund Simpson Boice. He was born in Rocky Mount, N.C., and resided in Virginia Beach for 45 years, where he was the owner of Boice Photography Studio. He was a longtime member of Galilee Episcopal Church. During World War II, he was a member of the 2nd Air Division, Army Air Corp. as a staff sergeant of Gunners on B-24 Liberator. He was shot down over France and was a P.O.W. for 11 months until the war ended.

Survivors include his wife, Lugean Harris Boice; a daughter, Laura Boice Etheridge of Yorktown, Va.; a son, Edmund S. Boice III of Pocomoke City, Md.; a grandson, Edmund Lee Etheridge of Yorktown; two sisters, Laura E. Boice of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Lyal B. Woollen of Virginia Beach.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 1994, in Galilee Episcopal Church, 40th St. and Pacific Ave., by the Rev. John D. Burley. The family will receive friends Monday, July 18, 1994, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Maestas Funeral Home Baltic Avenue Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, P.O.
