Joseph N. ``Buddy'' Gargis, 71, of the 1800 block of Sparrow Road, died July 19, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Gargis was born in Wake County, N.C. He retired as a general superintendent with Ames and Webb in Norfolk after 35 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rebecca J. Gargis; four daughters and sons-in-law, Norma G. and R. Lanier Halterman, Cathi G. and James D. Mullins, Karen G. and John A. Elam Jr., all of Virginia Beach, and Teresa G. and Jeffery L. Baker of Chesapeake; two sisters, Evelyn Thompson and Ruth Weathers, both of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, J.D. Gargis of Greenville, N.C.; and three grandsons, Jamie, Jonathan and Joshua.
A funeral will be conducted at 2p.m. Thursday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev John T. Derring. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
