James V. Alewine, 72, a retired electronics mechanic, died July 19, 1994, in Norfolk.
Mr. Alewine was born in Lexington, S.C., and was retired from the Naval Air Rework Facility in Norfolk after 36 years. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Norfolk Domino and Checker Club and Norfolk Polio Club.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Lois Culpepper Alewine; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra A. and Jay Te Walt of Virginia Beach; a son, Allen V. Alewine of Chesapeake; two sisters, Juanita Clarke of Winter Park, Fla., and Linda Athas of Tucker, Ga.; three brothers, Robert Alewine of Greenville, S.C., Carson Alewine of Leesville, S.C. and Norris Alewine of Lexington, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Joshua Alewine, Lisa Alewine and Sarah Te Walt.
A funeral will be conducted at 11a.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Ben Hadley-Goggin. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community United Methodist Church or Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad.
