Reon G. Hillegass of Norfolk was elected Librarian General of the Sons of the American Revolution at the organization's 104th annual Congress in New Orleans.
Hillegass, chairman of the board of Hillegass Lighting Corp. in Chesapeake, is a former president of the Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Friends of DePaul Hospital, Norfolk Little Theatre, Tidewater Arts Council, United Cancer Association, Military Highway Business Association, St. Mary's Cemetery Board, Ryan Club of Norfolk, and the Little Creek Improvement Association.
Hillegass is a recipient of the Brotherhood Award presented by the National Conference of Christians and Jews and the Father Kealy Civic Award for civic, charitable, cultural and educational endeavors.
The Sons of the American Revolution is made up of more than 25,000 men who are descendants of those who served during the war or rendered patriotic service. by CNB
