HONORS AND AWARDS

OBICI GRADUATES: The Louise Obici School of Nursing held its commencement exercises for the class of 1994 on June 10 at the Suffolk Christian Church.

Graduates are as follows: Ovedia Ann Brown, Kimberly LaShae Buck, Jo Ann Copeland, Linda Jean Gearhart, Angela Charmian Madray, Sharon Burgess Presson, Barbara Carol Radcliff, Carolyn Sawyer Roberts and Stephanie Perry Winslow, all of Suffolk; Deborah McClelland Grizzard of Capron; Sandra Ann Hatfield of Franklin; Michelle Reid Lawrence of Windsor; Patricia Beaudry Novaro of Zuni; Sharon Kaye Spivey of Waverly; Becky Moore Veverka of Smithfield; Whitney Paige Hobbs and Bonnie Jo Morgan, both of Portsmouth; Donna Marie Hall, Scottie Jones Kratchen, Johnna Carson Harrell and Traci Renae Tester, all of Chesapeake; and Camela Rose Hamilton of Petersburg.

STUDENTS ON HONORS LIST: Students on the honor lists for the spring semester at Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, N.C., included:

Honor roll list with a 3.00 to 3.49 average: Lamar Jermaine Barrett of Franklin and Anthony Scott Dunlow of Courtland.

Vice chancellor's list with a 3.50 to 3.74: Shawn Denise Lane of Surry.

ASTON JOINS BOARD: G. Robert Aston Jr. has been elected to the 42-member Board of Trustees at Virginia Wesleyan College.

Aston, a Suffolk native, is president and chief executive officer of Commerce Bank in Hampton Roads.

He is a graduate of the University of Virginia Graduate School of Banking and of the National Installment Credit School at the University of Oklahoma.

In 1981, he was elected president and chief executive officer of Citizens Trust Bank. He held that position until he was named to his present position with Commerce Bank in 1985.

Aston serves on numerous boards, including those of the Bon Secours Maryview Hospital, Virginia Beach Center for the Arts, Virginia Public School Authority, and Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.

DUNCAN HELPS HOMELESS: Kenny Duncan, a Boy Scout in Troop 5, recently completed a Community Service Project.

He is working on his requirements for second class.

Kenny collected business and dress clothes, household items and toys for the Suffolk Homeless Shelter.

CROCKER GRADUATES: Michael A. Crocker recently received his bachelor's degree in Occupational and Technical Studies, Technology Education, at Old Dominion University.

A graduate of Isle of Wight Academy, Crocker received the Technology Education Award for Academic Excellence and was on the dean's list, graduating cum laude with a grade-point average of 3.50.

He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Fraternity, Iota Lambda Sigma Honor Society, the International Technology Education Association, Golden Key National Honor Society, and the Virginia Technology Education Association. He is also a National Collegiate Education Award winner.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin A. Crocker Jr. of Windsor.

JARVIS ON DEAN'S LIST: Sarah V. Jarvis, a rising junior at James Madison University, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester. She is majoring in sociology with a minor in education.

Jarvis is a 1992 graduate of Churchland High School.
