The Windsor Jaycees will bring you ``Music in the Country'' on Saturday so they can make some money to sponsor still more entertainment later.
This is their first try at an outdoor concert. A host of well-known area entertainers will perform from 1 to 8 p.m. on the athletic field at Isle of Wight Academy.
And bring the youngsters, organizers said. Clowns and magicians will be on hand to keep them happy.
If music makes you happy, check this lineup:
William A. Hengel, whose first album has just been released, will offer some of his own songs, along with some country. He was formerly part of Aces Up.
His former Aces Up partner, Donald Goodwin, also will be on hand, along with his band, Island Boy. Expect classic rock and some country.
Southern Tradition Unplugged is an updated version of the old Southern Tradition country band. Two members from that group, Clay Griffin and Ronnie Piers, make up the new group.
Crosswinds, a three-piece acoustic act, and FireStar also will entertain.
Additional entertainment, in the form of dance numbers and gymnastics, will be provided by the Windsor School of Dance.
Food and beverages will be available, including beer. No coolers are allowed. There is plenty of parking.
The proceeds will be used to sponsor similar projects later in the year. MEMO: Tickets for ``Music in the Country,'' sponsored by the Windsor Jaycees,
are $10 in advance for those age 13 and older, $12 at the gate. Tickets
for children 7 to 12 are $7 either at the gate or in advance. There is
no charge for children 6 or younger.
In Franklin, tickets can be purchased at Fred's Restaurant and
Insight Cablevision, and in Suffolk at Shucker's Restaurant and Floyd's
Grill. They also can be ordered from the Isle of Wight Tourism Bureau.
