Fletcher D. Small Sr., of the 1300 block of S. Carrington Crescent, died July 20, 1994, in Maryview Medical Center.
He was born in Franklin and was retired from the U.S. Navy and from Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Fleet Reserve Association (NU)257 and Lebanon Lodge of Masons (NU)34.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce W. Small; three daughters, Teresa Morrell of Satellite Beach, Fla., Tina Hankerson of Miramar, Fla., and Cheryl A. Hines of Richmond; five sons, Steven M. Small, Fred L. Hines, both of Portsmouth, Fletcher D. Small Jr., Byron Small, both of Marianna, Fla., and Herbert Small of Thomasville, Ga.; one sister, Lucy E. Davis of Orange, N.J.; 12 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. J.M. Whitaker. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will be at Fisher Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday and all other times at the residence. The body will be in church at 10 a.m.
