Richard Yates, Jr., 79, of the 800 block of Madison St., Apt. (NU)432, a retired construction worker, died July 19, 1994, in his home.
Mr. Yates was born in Harrellsville, N.C. He retired from Vico Construction Co. after 30 years and was the widower of Millie B. Yates.
Survivors include a daughter, Alveina M. Thorne of Portsmouth; three stepdaughters; two sons, David Thorne of Portsmouth and Shelby Thorne of North Carolina; one stepson; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Corprew Funeral Home by the Rev. W.S. Hampton. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will be at the home of Cecelia Norwood, 4703 Deep Creek Blvd., and will assemble there for the funeral home.
