Police said Wednesday that the mother of a 3-year-old girl who was accidentally shot July 9 was partly responsible, and investigators charged her with felony child neglect.
Police said the child, Amber Nicole Frost, and her 7-year-old sister were playing with a loaded gun they found in the home of their mother's fiance, John H. Edwards, when the shooting occurred. Amber was wounded in the cheek.
The girls and their mother, 31-year-old Janey Frost, of the 8200 block of Edwin Drive, were at the Edwards home in the 3900 block of Marina Lake Road when the accident happened.
Edwards was also charged with felony child neglect, and each adult was also charged with keeping a loaded firearm within the reach of children. The adults were released on the promise they return for trial. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
