I take exception to several July 1 letters regarding religious freedom and conservative Christians. The reason this country is in the mess it's in is because for too many years, Christians were quiet and let the liberals run the show.
Now that more of us are speaking out, we're referred to as narrow-minded, deadly dull hatemongers on the same path as Hitler. No wonder Christian bashing is such a popular sport.
As for those liberals who cry ``separation of church and state'' every time God is uttered in public, perhaps they should read the U.S. Constitution. It makes no mention of this separation.
The founding fathers meant for us to have freedom of religion, not for us to be afraid to speak of God in school or other public places. The government is increasingly trying to deny us this freedom.
So-called ``liberals'' are only liberal when something agrees with their opinions. When others express differing opinions, they want to stifle them anyway they can.
