When I read ``Death penalty works'' (letter, July 12), a chill ran down my spine. The writer said, ``It must be accepted that for the greater good of society, sometimes perfectly decent people will be inadvertently hurt.''
There are probably many world problems, such as overpopulation and pollution, that are not ``good for society.'' Perhaps the solution is to kill off everyone who is causing society a problem.
Pardon me, but I thought we were all in this together.
In the long run, what is good for society will also be good for individuals and vice versa. We must find ways to live together and to solve our problems rationally. I don't think that more killing is an answer.
