Carl D. Ambrose Sr., 74, of the 7600 block of Halprin Drive, a retired mechanic, died July 22, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Ambrose was born in South Norfolk and was retired from Ames & Webb Constuction Co. after 30 years. He was a member and deacon of Calvary Presbyterian Church and was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Swain Ambrose and his son, Glenn Lee Ambrose.
Survivors include two daughters, Carlene F. Hudgins of Norfolk and Regina Karsjen of Batavia, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Bobbie Lou Smith of Easton, Md.; a son, Carl D. Ambrose Jr. of Hanburg, N.Y.; a stepson, Lewis Moore of Easton, Md.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Calvary Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Mark Bender. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
