Gladys Katherine Jacocks, 75, of Chesapeake, died Thursday at her residence.
Mrs. Jacocks was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and was formerly of Rosedale, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Katherine Engel and the widow of William Benjamin Jacocks.
Mrs. Jacocks was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and Great Bridge Senior Citizens. She was very active in volunteer work for Meals on Wheels and Chesapeake General Hospital. She had been employed by the Bulova Company for 23 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Lois Patricia Link of Norfolk; two sisters, Vivian Nordlie and Muriel Swinson, both of Saratoga, N.Y.; two brothers, Carson Engel of Alaska and Melville Engel of Florida; four grandchildren, Catherine Swaim of Virginia Beach, Deborah Lynn Burgsteiner of Chesapeake, Teresa Link and William Link, both of Virginia Beach; and nine great-grandchildren, Benjamin Swaim, Timothy, Brianne, Kyle, Kendra, Joshua and Kourtney Burgsteiner, Amber Link and Preston Link.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today in St. Thomas Episcopal Church by the Rev. Barbara Blakemore. At the conclusion of the service, the family will receive friends at the residence. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y. Oman Family Funeral Home, Great Bridge, is handling arrangements.
Memerial donations may be made to the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Building Fund.
