Cynthia Lynn McPherson Towns, 36, of Miami, died Thursday, July 21, in the University of Miami Hospital in Miami after a five year courageous battle with leukemia.
She was a native of Elizabeth City, N.C., and was a legal secretary and a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Ms. Towns was the daughter of Joseph Edward and Marta Baez McPherson of Miami and the granddaughter of the late James Edward and Thelma Perry McPherson of Elizabeth City, Bernardo Baez of Los Angeles and the late Jorge Baez.
Besides her parents and grandmother, she is survived by two daughters, Athena Christina Towns and Ana Lousie Towns of the home; two sisters, Susan M. Franceschi of Salt Lake City, Utah and Kendra M. Thompson of Aurora, Colo.; two brothers, Joseph Edward McPherson Jr. of Denver, Colo. and Jonathan Clark McPherson of Salt Lake City.
Services will be conducted on Monday, July 25 at 11 a.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, N.C. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of James and Frances Norrell, 1000 Riverside, Ave., Elizabeth City.
