A seven-member medical team from Operation Blessing is scheduled to leave today for Zaire to aid Rwandan refugees who have fled to that Central African nation.
The team will be headed by Dr. Paul Williams, director of the medical division of Operation Blessing - a humanitarian organization founded by religious broadcaster Pat Robertson. The team includes doctors, nurses and paramedics, Operation Blessing spokeswoman Patty Richardson said.
The team will leave by chartered plane at 11 a.m. from Norfolk and will land in Goma, Zaire.
``We pulled the team together really quick from health professionals in various states who already have their passports and inoculations,'' Richardson said. ``They're ready to go on an as-needed basis.''
The team is also providing medical supplies, Richardson said. by CNB
