Howard H. Dewhirst, 88, of the 3100 block of Shore Drive, a retired tax law specialist, died July 23, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Dewhirst was born in Galesburg, Ill. He had retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. He was a member of Old Donation Episcopal Church. He was former treasurer of the Optomists Club and the Ocean Park Civic League. He was a graduate of George Washington University.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Ward Dewhirst; a son, John W. Dewhirst of Fairfax and Virginia Beach; and five grandchildren, Kathy Wincheski, Suzanne Hoge, John Dewhirst Jr., Matthew Dewhirst and Jeffrey Dewhirst.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Westminster-Canterbury Chapel by the Rev. John Emmert. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Md. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is handling arrangements.
