DOUGLAS E. EVANS

Douglas Eugene Evans, 68, of the 4500 block of River Shore Road, died July 27, 1994, in Suffolk.

Mr. Evans, a native of Bluefield, W.Va., was retired from Seaboard Railroad. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Nadine Evans; a daughter, Kellie R. Evans of Portsmouth; four sons, Mitchell Evans, David C. Evans, Kenneth L. Evans and Spencer T. Evans, all of Portsmouth; four sisters, Mary Jefferson of Portsmouth, Virginia Flair and Jo Marie Hudgins, both of Newport News, and Joyce Reed of Greenville, S.C.; five brothers, Richard Evans and Charlie Evans, both of Portsmouth, Ralph Evans of Suffolk, Robert Evans of Hertford, N.C. and Roy Evans of Live Oak, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. John McDonald. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
