COLIE V. SLADE

Colie Vernon Slade, 90, of the 5000 block of Garner Ave., died July 26, 1994, in his residence.

Mr. Slade, a native of Florence, N.C., was retired from Colonial Stores as a supervisor after 37 years. He was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church; Woodmen of the World; UNC Alumni Association; former member, Kiwanis Club of Newport News-Petersburg-Suffolk and Portsmouth; and a member of James River Country Club. He was the widower of Juliet Gentile Slade.

Survivors include a son, Robert Alexander Slade of Wake Forest, N.C.; a sister, Ruby Whorton of Florence, N.C.; and a grandson, Robert Christopher Slade.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, by the Rev. Elisa Wheeler. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 3300 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, Va. 23703.
