Cantrell becomes executive with Tribune Co.: Joseph D. Cantrell, president of the Daily Press newspaper in Newport News, will become executive vice president of publishing for the Tribune Co. Cantrell will direct Tribune's six daily newspapers and the Tribune Media Services syndication service. Tribune Co., owner of the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Cubs and cable television superstation WGN, announced a reorganization of executives Wednesday. (Associated Press)

Bell Atlantic holds public hearing: Bell Atlantic-Virginia's plan to do away with long-distance charges on most calls between South Hampton Roads and the Peninsula Oct. 1 will the subject of two public hearings Monday in Hampton at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Gators Room of Griffin Hall at Thomas Nelson Community College. New ad agency for IFE: International Family Entertainment Inc., the Virginia Beach-based parent of The Family Channel, said Wednesday that it selected Bozell Worldwide, a New York-based advertising agency, to be its national/international agency of record. Bozell will provide strategic consulting, advertising and marketing services to IFE as it expands it various operations. IFE uses Hambright, Calcagno & Downing, a Beach-based ad agency, for special assignments. (Staff)

Saab recalling 92,000 cars: Saab plans to recall 92,000 of its top-of-the-line 9000 models worldwide after discovering faults in the brake lights and oil systems. The recall includes Saab's entire 1993 production of 42,000 cars and 50,000 made in 1992 and 1994. (Associated Press)

DynCorp gets $23 million contract from NASA: DynCorp, a professional and technical services firm headquartered in Reston, has received the $23 million services contract for management-support work at the National Aeronautics & Space Administration's Langley Research Center in Hampton. The five-year contract, had been held by Technical Applications Inc., a DynCorp subsidiary, since 1984. DynCorp acquired TAI in November 1993. (Staff) by CNB
