Mrs. Spivey Roberson Matthews, 76, of 209 E. Grubb St., Hertford, died Thursday, July 28, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
A native of Hall River, N.C., she was the daughter of the late John G. and Laura Spivey Roberson. She was a member of Hertford United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Durants Neck Craft Club.
Survivors include her husband, J. Vivian Matthews Sr.; a daughter, Kay M. Whedbee of Hertford; two sons, John V. Matthews Jr. of Hertford and W. Edward Matthews of Dunn, N.C.; a sister, Alice R. Johnson of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Cedar Wood Cemetery with the Rev. Jon Strother officiating. Swindell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
