Green Run's David Lacroix hit a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth to score D.J. Shultz and give his team a 8-7 victory over District 11's Clinch River in the Major Division single elimination state baseball tournament in Fairfax.
Trailing, 5-0, in the fourth inning, Green Run rallied with four runs.
Clinch River responded with a run in the top of the sixth, but Green Run tied it up and sent the game to extra innings when Mike D'Andrea knocked in two runs with a single up the middle in the sixth.
Winning pitcher Vince Sibal came on in the sixth and allowed only three hits.
Green Run will meet District 4 at 10 a.m. today.
PALOMINO: Little Creek was rained out Friday in its opening game of the double-elimination South Region Tournament in Greensboro.
Little Creek will face South Section winner Doyle Enterprises today at 12:30 p.m. at Stoner White Field in the first game of a doubleheader. by CNB
