Shirley Funk Raines of Charlotte, N.C., died on July 28, 1994 in Presbyterian Hospital after an extended illness.
She was a parishioner at St. Patrick Cathedral. Originally from Norfolk Va., she was a graduate of Norfolk Catholic High School.
Mrs. Raines was a loving, devoted mother. Although disabled in recent years, she derived great pleasure from her five grandchildren and her love of crafts.
Survivors include her three children, Gwendolyn R. Sherrill of Gastonia, N.C., Linda R. Belhorn, M.D., of Houston, Texas, Lawrence M. Raines III, M.D., of Chapel Hill, N.C.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph P. Funk Sr. of Petersburg, Va.; and brother, Joseph P. Funk of Chesterfield, Va.
Funeral arrangements have been made through J.T. Morriss and Sons. A wake will be held on Sunday, July 31, 1994 and a funeral Mass will be held in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Petersburg, Va., on Aug. 1, 1994.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
