The North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission unanimously approved Dare County's land-use plan Friday.
The commission's action was the last step after more than a year of meetings, workshops and public hearings on the five-year planning document.
The Dare County Board of Commissioners adopted the plan July 18 after holding a second formal public hearing on its provisions.
The document emphasizes the importance of maintaining Dare County's coastal villages - and preserving the Outer Banks' identity as a coastal community with abundant natural resources. by CNB
