A 17-year-old was killed about 3:30 a.m. Friday when his friend lost control and the vehicle they were in vaulted a curb and plunged into a lake, police said.
Police said Stewart Kibler lost control of his 1963 Ford Falcon, then it jumped a curb at Oyster Point Road and Victory Boulevard and soared 120 feet, landing in a lake just east of Interstate 64.
Oliver Russell Skinner of Newport News was pronounced dead at the scene. Skinner lived in the 400 block of Wyn Drive. Kibler lives in the 400 block of Ashton Green Boulevard.
