WHOSE `BEST INTEREST'?

My heart aches and my eyes fill with tears for the child who died of diaper rash. What are those people at Social Services doing?

They had ample past contact with the mother to know there was a big problem with her parenting skills. Why was not more interest shown? I am so tired of the old ``In the best interest of the child.'' Workers are putting these children at risk.

How many more children must suffer and die?

Virginians must get behind the Family Court bill, which has been delayed by the General Assembly until July 1996.

We need to put family services under one judicial umbrella, including Juvenile and Domestic Relations courts.
