I was happy to see liberalism blamed for circumstances previously blamed on our president (letter, ``Liberalism's evils,'' July 8).
I. E. Jordan says we are living in a welfare state. He is very wrong.
Liberalism has not ruined our schools. There are more students in colleges today than ever before.
As far as the increase in the crime rate, there is no one reason. Drugs are a leading cause, and there are both liberal and conservative drug users.
There has been no attempt to abolish God in my life. I have the right to worship as I please.
My family has not been destroyed by liberalism. We suffered a blow due to an illness, but we are surviving.
My morals have not been compromised. I am the same person at age 76 as I was when I was a child, guided in my younger years by the actions of my parents and by my own scruples.
Sen. Charles Robb does not control my actions or my life. He has his own lifestyle.
The conservative view of The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star is the papers' right. I uphold that, but I don't have to agree with the opinions. I consider myself very fortunate to live in a country such as the United States.
