PENSION PLAN PROTECTED COUNCIL'S WISE DECISION

City Council did the right thing Tuesday by eliminating city administrators from participation in the police and firefighters pension program.

To some degree, their action is like closing the barn door after the horse has gone because quite a number of administrators already have benefited from the plan.

However, the council's unanimous vote to exclude participation of the city manager and his assistants from this day forward will help maintain the integrity of the retirement program.
