IRENE BENTON

Irene Benton, 96, of the 1800 block of White Marsh Road, a homemaker, died July 30, 1994, in Obici Hospital.

Miss Benton was born in Nansemond County, Va. She was a lifetime member and the oldest member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church and a member of the Nettie Harrell Bible Class. She was the daughter of the late Susie G. Benton and Joseph H. Benton.

Survivors include her niece and great-niece, whom she made her home with, Shelby Willis and Tiffany Jones, both of Suffolk; two nephews, James A. Willis of Suffolk and Raymond R. Willis Sr., of Chester, Va.; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cypress Chapel Christian Church, Suffolk, by Dr. Willis I. Dowling. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday in Hill Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Memorials: Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439.
