Elmer Vance Midgett Jr., 67 of the 1400 block of Dunstan Lane, Virginia Beach, Va., died Friday, July 29, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk Hospital.
He was the son of Elmer Vance Midgett Sr. and Evelyn Hooper Midgett of Virginia Beach, and the husband of Beverly Sutherland Midgett of the home. Mr. Midgett was owner and operator of Bermuda Mechanical Company, Ltd. He was a member of Masonic Lodge (NU)521 in Manteo, N.C., a member of the Rotary Club in Bermuda and also was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Midgett is survived by one daughter, Betsy Sutherland Griffith of Richmond, Va.; two sons, Michael Elmer Midgett of Richmond and Elmer V. Midgett III of Bermuda; one brother, Edward F. Midgett of Cape Coral, Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held in Twiford Funeral Home, Ghent Chapel, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, 1994, with the Rev. Alan G. Reifsnyder officiating.
Burial will be in the Midgett Family Cemetery in Rodanthe, N.C., at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral Home Sunday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the residence in the Thoroughgood Estates in Virginia Beach. Twiford Funeral Home, Ghent Chapel, Norfolk, is in charge of arrangements. Masonic rites and Coast Guard honors will be at the graveside.
