Mrs. Jessie B. Britt, age 86, a resident of Boykins and a retired public school teacher, died Sunday, July 31, 1994 at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. Her husband was the late Walter H. Britt Jr. She formerly taught English at Ivor High School in Southampton County and sixth grade in the City of Suffolk public school system. She was a member of the Boykins United Methodist Church and the Tarara Women's Club. Her parents were the late William Herbert and Mary Stephenson Britt.
She is survived by a sister, Lucy B. Baker of Capron and a stepson, Walter H. Britt III of Suffolk.
Funeral services will be held at the graveside in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 1994 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, on Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Lucy B. Baker, Capron. Memorial donations may be made to the Boykins United Methodist Church or to the Boykins Volunteer Rescue Squad.
