On July 15, the Wendy's restaurant on Western Branch Boulevard near the Portsmouth city line was robbed.
About 7 a.m. an employee was approached by a man wearing a navy-blue bandana over his mouth. He was armed with a gun and demanded money.
The victim told the gunman she didn't have any money. He then forced her to the drive-through window and pushed her face into the glass. When the glass shattered, he made the same demands to the employees standing inside and took their money.
Afterward, the gunman fled with a bag full of money.
Police have developed a composite of the suspect. He is described as black, in his 20s, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 195 pounds with stocky build. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a striped pullover shirt.
On March 9, the body of Charity Lynn Boucher, 16, was found in the 2300 block of Elbow Road in Chesapeake.
Boucher was 5 feet 2 inches tall, 115 pounds, with blue eyes and had short, reddish-brown hair. She was last seen wearing Levi's blue jeans, a white, sport-style halter top, a gray sweatshirt jacket with purple striped trim and white Fila tennis shoes.
Anyone who saw Charity Lynn Boucher on March 9 after 5 p.m., or who has any information concerning her death, is asked to contact Detective C.E. Whitehurst or Detective R.W. Young at 547-6251 or 547-6161.
The victim's family is offering a $1,000 reward for information that results in the arrest and conviction of her killer. That is in addition to any reward from Crime Line. Virginia Beach 427-0000
On Tuesday, July 19 at 9:50 p.m., a Canadian couple on their honeymoon were traveling on Virginia Beach Boulevard.
When they stopped at the light at Stepney Lane near Loehmann's Plaza, the driver was approached by two men who pulled him from the car, demanded money and cut his face with a knife. After the assault the robbers ran.
Police are looking for two black men in their 20s. Both were short and one weighed about 175 pounds. Newport News 245-0755
Recently the Southeast Community has been plagued by a series of violent crimes resulting in several deaths and injuries.
In response, the Newport News Police Department has launched a series of enhanced patrol strategies for the area.
There will be more officers patrolling in the area on vehicles and bikes and on foot patrol. Hampton 722-9800
On two separate occasions between June 20 and July 12, Wood's Orchard, 183 E. Mercury Blvd., was the target of a burglary.
During the evening hours someone forced open the security fence and entered the business. Items stolen were bed liners and toolboxes for pickups, smoked hams and other food items.
Investigators have determined the thieves, after stealing the items, carried them through the wooded area at the rear of the business to a nearby vehicle.
On July 23, at about 9:25 p.m., a man entered the Pizza Hut at 26 W. Mercury Blvd., walked up to the counter, pulled up his shirt and revealed a handgun.
He ordered the clerk to open the cash register and then reached over the counter and stole the money.
The robber is described as black, 6 feet 3 inches tall, 235 pounds with a light complexion. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue sweat shirt and blue bandana on his head. He was last seen running from the business toward Mercury Boulevard. by CNB
