Matthew David Kidd, 47, of the 1000 block of City Park Ave., died July 31, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Kidd was a native of Roanoke, Va., and was the son of Inez Thornton Kidd of Portsmouth and the late Oscar Brown Kidd Jr. He was retired as an insulator from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 57. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Portsmouth.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary B. Kidd; two daughters and their husbands, Mary Kidd and John Flemming of Manassas, Va., and Amy Kidd and Donnie Parker of Portsmouth; a brother, Norwood T. Kidd of Portsmouth; a nephew, Andrew L. Kidd of Chesapeake; and two grandchildren, John Matthew Flemming and Chandler Austin Parker.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Community United Methodist Church by the Rev. Steve Bingham. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the John Friend Benelvolent Fund of Community United Methodist Church, 37 Cherry Road, Portsmouth, Va. 23701.
