The 40-year-old woman who suffered burns on more than 70 percent of her body after allegedly being doused with gasoline by her boyfriend last week died Sunday evening at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Jacqueline Cherry of the 1200 block of Godfrey Ave. had been in critical condition since July 24 when she allegedly was set afire and locked in the bathroom at her home by Alfred Parker, 43.

Cherry's teenage daughter was also allegedly doused with gasoline by Parker, but she managed to escape and notify neighbors, who called police.

Parker was charged with murder and malicious wounding. Those charges were updated to murder and arson Monday.
