Emmett Reynolds didn't come home with a championship, but he did get a trophy and a lot of self-respect.
Reynolds, a 58-year-old Ford truck plant employee recently took fifth in the masters (over-50) division of the Body Sculpting Classic at Hampton Roads Academy.
It was his first body building contest.
``I'm very happy with how I did,'' said the Norfolk resident who works out at East Coast Gym in Virginia Beach with owner and body builder Marvin Chappell.
``I was just doing it for fun. Lifting weights and getting your body in shape is one thing, but showing it off and posing and all that is another. I wasn't really ready for that part, but I'll do this again and be better prepared. I didn't make any mistakes, but I could have done some things better.''
Reynolds started working out with Chappell two years ago and said it has made life much better.
``Look at him,'' Chappell said. ``How many guys almost 60 do you see who look like that. I know a lot of them who wish they did.'' by CNB
