ROBERT L. BARKER

Robert Lee Barker, 82, of the 3500 block of Gloria Court, a retired machinist, died Aug. 1, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mr. Barker was a native of Holston, Va., and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 40 years. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Chesapeake, the widower of Evelyn Hash Barker and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Edwards of Chesapeake; four sisters, Beulah Olinger of Kingsport, Tenn., Virginia Barker of Yuma, Va., and Gertrude Wallace and Hazel Hurt, both of Bristol, Tenn.; a brother, Woodrow Barker of Yuma, Va.; two granddaughters, Cynthia Carter and Rebecca Hoover; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fellowship Baptist Church by the Rev. Lynn Hardaway. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
