THOMAS E. PARKER JR.

Mr. Thomas Edward ``Ed'' Parker, Jr. age 70, of the 200 block of East Eden St., died Tuesday August 2, in the Chowan Hospital. A native of Chowan County, Mr. Parker was the son of the late Thomas E. Parker, Sr. and Penny Forehand Parker. He was a member of the Countryside Church of Christ, a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, a member of the V.F.W. Post 9280 and the American Legion Post 40. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jones Parker, a daughter Julia Dawn Parker and a brother Johnny Rudolph Smith.

He is survvied by 2 sons: Thomas E. ``Tommy'' Parker, III of Edenton, and Darrell Forehard Parker of Bessemer City, N.C.; 4 sisters, Dorothy Spies of Woodbury, N.J., Jean Shackleford of Chesapeake, Va., Peggy Hollowell of Chicago, Ill., and Wanda McPherson of Elizabeth City. There are 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Williford-Barham Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ben Gregory. Burial will follow in the Beaver Hill Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the Williford-Barham Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7-9 and at other times at the residence of Tommy Parker 104 East Carteret St., Edenton.
