GEORGE H. BAILEY

George H. Bailey, 73, of the 700 block of Dunedin Drive, a retired truck driver after 32 years, died July 30, 1994.

Mr. Bailey was born in Cape Charles, Va. He had been retired from the city of Portsmouth for 21 years. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, an usher, and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Bailey; five daughters, Vanness Bailey, Charlene Bailey of Portsmouth, Dottie Bailey of Washington, D.C., Barbara Bailey, Joyce Bailey, both of Maryland; two grandchildren, Micheal and Kimberely; one great-grandchild; four godchildren; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church by Dr. William Hampton. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 751 Dunedin Drive, Portsmouth, at 10:15 a.m. Saturday for the processional to the church.
