GEORGE A. REEL JR.

George Albert ``Buddy'' Reel Jr., 71, of the 500 block of Woodglen Drive, died Tuesday in a Chesapeake hospital.

Mr. Reel was born in South Norfolk and was the son of the late George Albert Reel Sr. and Marion Wright Reel. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was the former owner and operator of the Great Bridge Block and Lumber Co. He was an Army veteran who served in the Pacific with the Amphibious Engineers.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Kauffman Reel; one daughter, Deborah Lee Reel; one son, George Albert Reel III; four sisters, Jane Reel Coley, Kathryn Reel Paynter, Shirley Reel Dickinson and Louise Reel Davis, all of Chesapeake; seven nephews; six nieces and numerous great-nephews and nieces.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Oman Family Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by the Rev. Chip Roberson. Burial will follow in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
