When Angela Hagans came out of her sister's home Wednesday morning, her husband was waiting.
He was not a welcome sight.
Fed up with longstanding marital problems, Angela, 30, had left her husband last week and temporarily moved in with her sister.
By Wednesday evening, Angela Hagans was dead - stabbed several times - and her husband charged with her abduction and murder.
Police said Matthew L. Hagans, 31, of the 500 block of Leonard Avenue, forced his estranged wife into his truck at 7:45 a.m. as she was leaving for work. He then sped down East Little Creek Road, police said.
At the intersection of East Little Creek Road and Dallas Street, Angela fled the truck. Police said Hagans jumped out - leaving the truck running and in gear - and chased her.
Police said when Hagans caught up with her, he stabbed her multiple times before fleeing.
In the meantime, the unoccupied truck continued down the road , crashing head-on into a station wagon that had stopped at a traffic light. The car's driver, whose name was not released, was not hurt.
Angela Hagans died at 11 a.m. at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital
