RUBY J. BARNES

Ruby Joan Barnes, 73, of the 100 block of Suburban Parkway, a retired companion worker, died Aug. 3, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. Barnes was born in Little Creek, Ark. She was the daughter of the late Rebecca Selden and widow of James A. Barnes Jr. She was a member of First Baptist Church Bollingbrook, Norfolk, Pastor's Aide, Usher Board, Missionary Circle and Sunday School member. She was retired from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after 20 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Rita J. Barnes and Margaret E. Holmes, both of Norfolk; a son, James A. Barnes III of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a son-in-law of Norfolk, a daughter-in-law of Norfolk; and four sisters-in-law, all of Norfolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in First Baptist Church Bollingbrook, 120 Filbert St., Norfolk, by the Rev. Clinton Brown. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will assemble at 11 a.m. at 5363 Coachway Drive, Norfolk. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
