David Green, posting a new track record of 113.461 mph, grabbed his seventh pole of the season for the Kroger 200 Busch Grand National race.
Green, the Grand National points leader, won his fourth pole in five races, turning his lap in 21.766 seconds. The previous lap record of 22.346 seconds was set by Ward Burton in August 1991.
Kenny Wallace, in the last car to run Thursday, took the outside pole with a lap of 112.685 mph.
Hermie Sadler of Emporia will start third, followed by Ricky Craven and Mike Wallace. Chesapeake native Elton Sawyer will start 15th.
Ashton Lewis, a semi-regular at Langley Raceway, didn't make the top 16 before rain washed out second-round qualifying. He'll try again today.
