WILLIAM P. GLOVER

Dr. William Peyton Glover, M.D., 83, of the 5300 block of Academy Road died August 4, 1994, at his home.

Dr. Glover was born in San Antonio, Texas, and retired from the United States Army as a Lt. Colonel. He began his Army career in the last U.S. Calvary division, and was a veteran of the Korean War and WWII. He graduated from the University of Colorado Medical School. Dr. Glover practiced as a medical doctor in private family practice in the Kempsville area for seventeen years, retiring in 1984. Following his retirement, he worked for the Virginia Beach Public Health Department.

Dr. Glover was an avid master bridge player with over 1300 points and was a member of the American Contract Bridge League. He was currently serving on the board of directors of Unit 146 of the ACBL. He volunteered on a regular basis at the Beach Health Center and received the 1991 Volunteer Recognition Award from the United Way. He was a lifetime member of the American Medical Association.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Frances Boyce Glover of Virginia Beach; three daughters, Claire G. Anchick of Gold Hills, Oregon, Suzanne Shore Barley of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and Sarah ``Sally'' Shore Hall of Virginia Beach; one son, James S. Shore of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy H. Patton of Rivera Beach, Texas, and Mrs. Ruth G. George of Victoria, Texas; and six grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, August 8, 1994 at 2:00 p.m. at the Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel by Minister Robert C. Powell, Jr. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to visit the family Sunday afternoon from 2-5:00 p.m. at the residence, 5333 Academy Road, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Beach Health Center, 302 22nd Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451, where Dr. Glover volunteered.
