The recent story on the Cairo conference regarding population reminded me of a cattleman friend from California. He started with a small spread in the Sierra foothills and a few head of cattle, which soon multiplied. When he saw that the land could support no more, he sold a few head and bought more land. Eventually he owned 7,000 lush acres which he saw to it were not overgrazed.
Much of the resources of the world are nearly used up, and I resent the pope and other Christian and Moslem leaders implying that God is not as smart as my late California friend. He planned for the eventuality that we face today. We were given brains as well as reproductive organs.
Young couples in Ireland, Mexico and many other Catholic and Islamic countries must be allowed to use their brains and be allowed access to contraception.
